Day 4 – We left our Springdale home base for a 216-mile journey through some of Arkansas’ most iconic landmarks. From historic wooden bridges to the famous “Tunnel of Trees,” this ride was a masterclass in scenic touring. We cross the legendary War Eagle Bridge (built in 1907) and the “Little Golden Gate of the Ozarks,” the one-lane, wooden-plank Beaver Bridge.
We rode through Eureka Springs, which was a ride through time in this Victorian-era mountain town. We also grabbed a “biker lunch” at Legends Saloon. We hit Highway 23, the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, entering the “Tunnel of Trees” where the temperature drops and the curves get tight. A detour to Oark General Store, the oldest continuously operating store in Arkansas (est. 1890) for their world-famous homemade pie. Viewed the Boston Mountains with sweeping vistas at the Pig Trail Overlook before heading back to Springdale via Highway 16.
