Northern Colorado IMRG Dowdy Lake Picnic Ride

This will be a tranquil ride that will have you viewing and enjoying the scenery along the way. Dowdy Lake is a picturesque lake that serves as the centerpiece of the Dowdy Lake State Wildlife Area in Red Feather Lakes and is surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest.

On this ride, you will bring your own BROWN BAG picnic lunch to savor while overlooking this beautiful lake. Red Feather has a few areas that are common use areas and Dowdy Lake is one of them. There are restrooms in the area at the Lake where we are planning to visit.

There is a drop-box to pay a $5 day-use fee (per motorcycle), so be sure to have cash or check on-hand. We will enjoy our lunch and camaraderie with one another while taking in the serenity of the lake and its surrounding.

We will meet at the Indian Motorcycle of Fort Collins and take back roads to US287 and cut off on Red Feather Lakes Rd where The Forks Mercantile is located. Traveling on Red Feather Lakes Rd will take us to Dowdy Lake. After spending some time at the picnic area of Dowdy Lake, we’ll ride back to Ted’s Place (gas station at Hwy 287 & 14) where the ride will end (~88 route miles).
